Gimac is a leading manufacturer of polymer processing equipment, specializing in extrusion technologies. With a focus on both micro-extrusion, which preserves molecular and mechanical properties in small-scale components, and dynamic extrusion, which enables real-time control of dimensions, materials, and their properties, Gimac also provides advanced co-extruders to enhance production efficiency.
We offer a wide range of co-extruders designed to meet the demands of compact machines ranging from Ø25mm to Ø35mm. These versatile and robust co-extruders allow for dynamic extrusion in standard versions with pressures up to 1000 Bar. This range of machines is utilized across various sectors, including the medical industry, research centers, universities, and all fields of plastic industries.
Our co-extruders are capable of extruding a variety of thermoplastic materials such as PVC, PU, PE, PP, PC, PA, PMMA, PSU, PBT, LCP, PLG, PEEK, FEP, ETFE, and PVDF, in shapes and dimensions that are commonly found in the market. For applications involving powder or microspheres, we provide specially designed screw and barrel units suitable for micro-extrusion. Additionally, we can supply plasticization units made from intergranular-corrosion resistant materials or materials that are resistant to scoring and high temperatures.
GIMAC co-extruders can be assembled on various supports to address space constraints, effectively resolving the common issue of limited installation area. This flexible assembly allows our co-extruders to perform dynamic extrusion in horizontal and vertical positions, as well as at intermediate angles, while maintaining high precision, thanks to our meticulously designed feed zones.
GECO is an integrated digital platform developed by Gimac that combines software intelligence with dedicated hardware support to create a unified environment for machine operators, maintenance teams, and management staff. At its core, GECO is designed to bridge the gap between physical equipment, such as co-extruders, and digital knowledge by making machine-related information readily available, consistently updated, and contextually relevant at the point of use.
GECO resolves this fragmentation by consolidating manuals, technical drawings, running data, maintenance logs, and troubleshooting guides into a single environment. The result is a centralized knowledge hub that improves both accessibility and reliability, crucial for dynamic extrusion processes.
Beyond passive documentation, GECO provides real-time data access directly from Gimac machines, including those used for micro-extrusion (Future capability). Operators and technicians can visualize running parameters, monitor performance trends, and diagnose issues as they occur. This dynamic layer of interaction transforms GECO from a static reference tool into a proactive system that actively supports decision-making and maintenance planning.
Equally important, GECO extends the communication link between customers and Gimac. It is a hybrid solution that integrates live machine intelligence with professional support structures, positioning itself as a cornerstone in Gimac’s aftermarket and service strategy.
Microextruders are projected to address challenges in the microproduction of medicines and biopolymers, effectively meeting the demands for both extrusion and co-extrusion of standard technical profiles. We therefore offer a comprehensive range of microextruders designed for production rates from a few grams per hour to several kilos per hour. These machines are extensively utilized in the plastic, chemical, pharmaceutical, and medical industries, as well as in research centers and universities. Our microextruders excel in dynamic extrusion, allowing for the processing of all thermoplastic materials, including PVC, PU, PE, PP, PC, PA, PMMA, PSU, PBT, LCP, PLG, PEEK, FEP, ETFE, PVDF, and more, in shapes and dimensions commonly found in commercial granules. For the extrusion of powders or microspheres, we provide specially designed screw and barrel units. Additionally, we can supply plasticization units made from intergranular-corrosion resistant materials, scoring-resistant materials, and other robust materials suitable for high-temperature applications. Our machines are engineered to ensure maximum reliability for continuous service beyond 24 hours, even under pressures of up to 500 Bar, with precise operational capabilities. Equipped with a breaking prevent screw protection through a calibrated safety joint, these machines offer the flexibility to operate in horizontal, vertical, and intermediate inclined positions.
Having pioneered micro-extrusion in the early 1980s, a process that emphasizes maintaining and conditioning molecular, mechanical, and chemical properties, Gimac later advanced the field with dynamic extrusion in the 1990s. This innovative technique, which utilizes co-extruders, allows for controlled variation in part dimensions, materials, and their properties, marking a significant evolution beyond traditional micro-extrusion.
